: the state of being grateful : thankfulness
~Merriam-Webster

I write this overlooking the now calm and graceful waters of Long Island Sound. We took a bad storm hit, as did millions of others, with hurricane winds and waves rocking our foundation and record flooding destroying precious possessions. But we are fortunate the Out of The Blue Films home office still stands!

And we're celebrating a gloriously productive year. We produced, directed, filmed, and edited two outstanding original documentary film projects, accompanying web series, funder reels, sizzle reels, trailers, and a PSA. (Coming soon!)

New Website & Blog

Launched our new website and blog! Please 'like', tweet, and share. It's an easy and much appreciated way to show support.

A Broadway Lullaby

Our new documentary A BROADWAY LULLABY premiered before enthusiastic crowds at the DOC NYC Film Festival at the IFC Center in Manhattan in November. Gratitude to programmer Basil Tsiokos, and DOC NYC's Thom Powers & Raphaela Neihausen for choosing to showcase our work.

Thanks also to Kate Dawson, our production team and Executive Producers Jodi & Dan Glucksman, who made this film possible. Audiences are very moved by this story about Broadway's brightest composers, musicians, and stars joining together in a unique creative project to combat breast cancer.

Our web series of videos chronicling the Over The Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project story were shown widely on major sites such as broadwayworld.com and playbill.com. See them all on our YouTube Channel here. 'Liking' these videos and sharing them with friends on your social networks really helps!

More film festival screenings and a broadcast premiere are coming up for this work. Stay tuned.

School of My Dreams

Deep thanks to Board Member and Executive Producer Deborah Santana, who continues to amaze with her vision, generosity, and heart. We worked intensively with Deborah on an inspiring new collaboration which brought cinematographer/husband Jim Anderson and myself back to beautiful Kenya this year.

SCHOOL OF MY DREAMS is the follow-up documentary to our award-winning short, GIRLS OF DARAJA. These gifted girls would have little hope for the future without Daraja Academy. They mesmerize with their grace, determination, and talent and are growing fast into brilliant future leaders. We are exploring film festival premieres and exciting community screenings now for SOMD --- will keep you posted!

Appreciation to LaTanya Richardson Jackson who narrated SCHOOL OF MY DREAMS for us. It was an honor to be at La Tanya and Samuel L. Jackson's garden party in Beverly Hills in support of Artists for a New South Africa this month.

We accompanied this group to South Africa a few years ago at the invitation of Deborah Santana and made a film of their journey - purchase of ROAD TO INGWAVUMA supports ANSA.

Projects in Progress

Big news: We're working with a major aggregator to create an Out of The Blue Films channel. Getting our films on iTunes, Netflix, and elsewhere. We're raising funds to secure music rights necessary to get SOUNDS SACRED out to ever wider audiences. Please help us by donating here.

Telling powerful stories that inspire, inform and enlighten is our mission. Please help us to continue telling stories that matter by donating here.

Your tax-deductible $25, $50, $100, $1000 donation goes a very long way.

We're also looking to join forces with organizations, socially conscious corporations, and entrepreneurs to help tell their stories. Please connect us with friends and colleagues in need of professional video services.

Hoping the year ahead is your best yet!

In gratitude,

Gratitude is the fairest blossom, which springs from the soul.
