'I live in the house near the corner which I have named gratitude.' ~ Mary Oliver

It is the season of taking stock.

We identify snapshots of grace, generosity, achievement in the busy year flying by.

And express our thanks.

In 2018, Out of The Blue Films, Inc. celebrates twenty years of award-winning filmmaking. And you have been a vital part of that journey. THANK YOU. We are currently in-between documentary projects, exploring the creative landscape in new ways.

I'm spending much of my time now back at my journalist roots, as a freelance writer & producer for the major national news networks: tracking, deciphering, and communicating global events at a critical time in our nation's history.

Excited to be nominated for a 2018 Writers Guild Award for a news script I wrote for ABC's World News Tonight on the Obama Wiretap Allegations story. The Guild awards honor outstanding achievement in television, new media, news and other professional writing.

We're also providing key production support to some hit shows over at History Channel such as MOUNTAIN MEN and THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND. Our thanks to Alice Look at A&E for bringing us on board and championing our work over the years!

I'm also writing and developing episodic television series.

Thanks to the creative artistic community at NAKED ANGELS -- New York City's longest running cold reading series at the storied Theatre 80 on Saint Mark's Place in the East Village for inviting me to present pages on my current work.

One of the best things about being a writer is the gift of hearing the truth of your words aloud. Whether by network news anchors or actors on a New York stage.

Our award-winning documentary film trilogy about high school girls in Kenya who are changing the world, just had its Northern California premiere at the San Rafael Film Center. Our thanks to DEBORAH SANTANA who has been a dear and generous friend to Out of The Blue Films, Inc. for so many productive years. You can contribute to Daraja Academy here.

Video editor ANN COLLINS, who cut the initial work in that series, GIRLS OF DARAJA, just debuted a new film at the New York Film Festival she edited on American literary giant Joan Didion. We were there to cheer Ann on at the premiere. See this remarkable film!

Farewell and gratitude to veteran journalist GABE PRESSMAN, who passed away this year. I was Gabe's producer for seven years in the early days of my news career. We won two EMMYS and a PEABODY for our work together on the crisis of the mentally ill homeless in New York City. I learned so much by his side and carry those lessons and triumphs with me for the rest of my days. Our condolences to Gabe's wife, Vera, a lifelong friend. We appreciate both their contributions as special advisors to Out of The Blue.

Also remembering JOHN SCHWALLY, a marvelous producer and kind soul who helped us on many Out of The Blue Films productions over the years.

Onward in creativity, integrity, and truth.

And again, our deep thanks.

With love & appreciation——
